New Documents in 2026

In our last edition, we reported on the launch of Georgia’s new e-passport and its advanced security architecture. This article reviews other major identity and travel documents introduced in recent months, including those from Oklahoma, the Netherlands, asylum residence permits, and Liechtenstein’s latest e-passport programme.

New Oklahoma credential

In the US, Oklahoma has announced a major modernisation of both its driver licence issuance platform and credential design.

The state is introducing a new digital processing system through FAST Enterprises to reduce waiting times, improve reliability, and eliminate system outages that previously disrupted licensing services.

Alongside the platform upgrade, Oklahoma unveiled redesigned driver’s licences and ID cards featuring enhanced security features and state-inspired visual elements. Made from polycarbonate, the new credential incorporates ultraviolet security elements, laser-engraved black-and-white portraits, animated secondary images, angle-dependent text effects, and microtext which includes the names of all 77 Oklahoma counties.
