A Tale of Georgia’s New Document Series: When Heritage Meets Security

Georgia just took home the ‘Best New Document Series’ award, presented at HSP EMEA in Rabat, and for good reason. The Georgia Document Family is a harmonised suite of ePassports and eID cards that successfully merges futuristic security with a deep reverence for the nation’s history.

Developed through a collaboration between Veridos, the Public Service Development Agency, and designer Nino Gongadze, the series centres on the theme ‘A Journey Through History,’ turning every document into a portable cultural map.

The rollout of these documents began in late 2025, with passports launching in October and ID cards following in December. This initiative isn’t just a design refresh; it is a comprehensive infrastructure overhaul intended to serve millions of citizens over the next decade. The architecture unifies six passport types and four identity cards, ensuring that whether a citizen is travelling abroad or accessing local services, they carry a consistent symbol of national pride.
