nanoDOVID®: Shaping Light into Security

Counterfeiters are no longer limited to simple print-and-overlay methods to create counterfeit security features. While document issuers have strengthened physical security using polycarbonate data pages and laser engraving, optical security features must also evolve. They can no longer rely solely on visual appeal; they must be inherently difficult to analyse, replicate, or reverse-engineer.

To address these challenges, IQ Structures (IQS) has developed nanoDOVID. Rather than treating an optical feature as a repeating designed image, nanoDOVID engineers the interaction of light at the nanoscale through complex, computer-calculated structures.

At the core of the technology lies an advanced system of nanoengineered optical structures generated using sophisticated mathematical algorithms and fabricated point-by-point with extreme precision. Unlike traditional holographic or diffractive features, nanoDOVID uses a periodic structure that does not contain simple repeating patterns.
