Two New Banknote Upgrades with Micro-Optic Threads
The Central Reserve Bank of Peru has introduced an updated version of the 200 soles banknote, first issued in 2023 and the highest value in the current series.
The new note features an upgraded 5mm windowed security thread, replacing the previous 4mm RAPID® Detect version to further combat counterfeiting. This enhanced band shifts from green to blue with a demetallised ‘200’ when tilted.
In Denmark, meanwhile, a new series of banknotes is planned for 2028-29 but, pending their introduction, Danmarks Nationalbank has upgraded all its existing notes of 2009 (the so-called Danish Bridges and Landscapes series, which was one of the first in the world to feature MOTION® thread from Crane Currency on all denominations). In 2020, the 500 krone banknote was upgraded, in 2024, the 100 and 200 krone banknotes were upgraded, and now it’s the 50 krone banknote’s turn, the latest version of which was issued in February.
