Crane Spreads Its Wings in Authentication

Crane NXT has signed a definitive agreement with De La Rue to acquire its authentication business for £300 million, subject to customary adjustments.

De La Rue Authentication will be combined with OpSec Security (which Crane acquired in March 2024 for $270 million) within the newly created Security and Authentication Technologies business segment.

The acquisition strengthens Crane NXT’s position in the c.$3 billion growing authentication technologies market.

In the fiscal year ended 30 March 2024, De La Rue Authentication generated £102.9 million in revenue. Among its notable contracts, secured during that year, was a renewal of its agreement with Microsoft until 2029. De La Rue expects its Authentication division to grow, with projected revenues from existing contracts surpassing £350 million over the next three years.
