NCC Boosts Anti-Piracy Efforts with Digital Tools & Hologram

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) plans to introduce a mandatory documentation process for booksellers to combat piracy. The process will begin in Abuja and expand to other regions.

Director-General John Asein revealed that the NCC is streamlining online registration for booksellers and aiming for nationwide compliance by early next year.

This initiative will require all booksellers, printers, and publishers to meet minimum documentation standards, helping track and secure authorised sales.

Asein also shared that the NCC will introduce anti-piracy measures, such as holograms, in stages. Some books may initially use holograms voluntarily, while others will require them. The NCC will provide these devices to publishers. The holograms will have a uniform, trackable format to support copyright officers in market enforcement.
