New Dutch Travel Documents Enter Circulation
The National Agency for Identity Data (RvIG) has started circulating the new model of Dutch travel documents, including passports and identity cards, to combat fraud, abuse, and forgery.
The new model is designed according to the latest international standards, laws, and regulations, and several changes have also been made to maintain unity in the family of Dutch travel documents. According to estimates, the Dutch authorities expect to produce an average of 4 million documents annually.
The 2024 Dutch passport model introduces new security features, including a colour photo on the third page, tactile elements for the visually impaired, a small LASINK™ Helios photo on the holder page, and a chip with an enlarged primary photo.
Based on optically variable elements, the LASINK Helios combines colour personalisation and DOVID technologies to secure secondary portraits.
