HoloSurge Secures Largest Grant in Recent EU History
HoloSurge, a consortium of 14 European technology and health leaders, has clinched €8.9 million in research and innovation grants, one of the most significant in recent EU history.
The funding, provided by the transnational research and Innovation funding body Horizon Europe, will support the advancement of organ hologram technology, which will enhance surgical decision-making.
The HoloSurge project will utilise the grant to propel the development of Norwegian health tech start-up HoloCare’s revolutionary interactive 3D hologram technology. This technology is designed to mitigate surgical complications, enhance patient outcomes, and augment surgeons’ spatial perceptions.
The technology has already demonstrated its potential, with liver surgeries conducted at five European hospitals, including Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, showing a remarkable 74% reduction in organ alignment time compared to MRI scans.
