Ceres Holographics’ Multi-Display Innovation

Ceres Holographics is hoping to disrupt current technology in the automotive display industry with what it claims to be the world’s first in-plane heads-up display (HUD), featuring multiple transparent displays on a single windshield.

Using specially designed holographic optical elements (HOEs), the display achieves a large field of view, and, unlike traditional optics, the use of diffractive optics allows for multiple separate transparent displays on a windshield. Each of the displays has its own programmable HOE.

Through precise configuration of each display at specific viewing angles within the windshield, essential operational data, safety alerts, and situational information can be presented in a clear, non- distracting manner.

The HOEs are produced with photopolymer film and proprietary manufacturing machinery. Ceres’ software- based mastering approach enables rapid customisation and reformatting of HUDs based on customers’ unique specifications.
