Dana New Label to Fight Fake Automotive Products

Dana – based in Neu-Elm in Germany and a leading provider of vehicle parts – now provides buyers of its Victor Reinz® brand products with effective protection from product piracy and counterfeits.

Product authenticity can be verified quickly and easily thanks to a new Dana Secure label, comprising a single QR code with an integrated hologram containing a unique digital fingerprint.

This label leverages Salzburg-based Authentic Vision’s holographic fingerprint™ technology, which comes from a process called systemic randomness during production. The company claims that this randomness ensures that each tag is distinct and cannot be duplicated, even by the original manufacturer.

The label combines this unique holographic pattern with a QR code, creating a digital tool for verifying product authenticity through mobile devices. When scanned with the Dana Secure App, the code provides an automated, instant authentication result, ensuring the product is genuine. The label is on the packaging, but sometimes it’s also applied directly to the product.
