Covestro and EMPTECH Forge Strategic Alliance for High-Security Identity Documents
In a major move to address surging global demand for secure identification, material giant Covestro and secure ID system integrator EMPTECH have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The strategic partnership aims to codevelop next-generation, high-security identity document solutions by integrating advanced personalisation equipment with cutting-edge polymer materials.
The collaboration specifically targets government identity projects, such as passports, national ID cards, and driver’s licences, with a focus on China and rapidly growing emerging markets.

Secure document personalisation – the critical process of embedding biometric and personal data into official credentials – demands flawless compatibility between the substrate material and the machinery used to print or engrave it. Without this integration, security features can fail or become vulnerable to tampering.
