Banknote Conference Coming in May

The Banknote Conference 2026 will take place 11-14 May in Washington DC. Even though the event is still months away, the organiser, Currency Research, has already shared details about six pre-event workshops and the first tranche of confirmed speakers, showing that a strong, technical program is planned.

As in previous years, the 2026 conference will start with specialised pre-conference workshops on topics throughout the cash lifecycle. These include the International Association for Currency Affairs (IACA) members’ discussion meeting, a State Printworks Summit on production, substrates, automation, and workforce development, and a Central Bank Summit for senior technical and operational leaders to discuss substrate selection, sustainability, security features, supply chain resilience and production cost management.

There will also be a counterfeit workshop focused on detection, forensic analysis, intelligence, and authentication, and the Coin Conference will feature a session about the social and practical roles of circulating coins.
