Optical Security Features Continue on Banknotes

In the January and February 2025 issues of Holography & Optical Technology News™, we covered banknotes featuring optical innovations from Argentina, Mauritius, Romania, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Kenya, China, the Falklands, and Belize.

In line with HOT News expanded focus, this periodic round-up will cover not only new banknotes with diffractive features but also all optically variable security features.

Armenia OVI

The Central Bank of Armenia has issued a revised 20,000 dram banknote featuring the denomination numeral printed in optically variable ink (OVI) on the reverse side. A similar enhancement was made to the 5,000 and 10,000 dram notes last year.

Bahamas’ new crisp evolution

The Central Bank of The Bahamas has released its new CRISP Evolution $1 banknote. While the design largely mirrors that of its predecessor, the updated version is printed on Giesecke + Devrient’s Hybrid ADDvance® substrate, replacing the previous Giesecke + Devrient’s Hybrid™ substrate.
