Farewell to the Queen: Belize Unveils New Banknotes

On 23 January 2025, the Central Bank of Belize (CBoB) announced a new series of banknotes (in denominations of $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100) featuring holographic threads and stripes. This announcement signifies a significant milestone in Belize’s financial landscape, showcasing innovative designs that celebrate the country’s rich heritage while embracing modernity.

Security features

Designed and printed by De La Rue on paper, the new notes maintain the same dimensions as the old ones: 150mm x 75mm for the $100 and $50 denominations and 140mm x 70mm for the $20, $10, $5, and $2 notes.

The latest series of banknote family include modern security threads with a PUREIMAGE™ holographic thread on the $2 and $5 notes and an IGNITE® thread, along with a holographic stripe on the $10, $20, $50, and $100 notes.
