More Banknotes with Colour Shift Optics

In the July month issues of Holography News™, we covered Japan’s new banknote series, all three featuring holographic portraits. In the August issue, we covered Morocco’s 50 dirham banknote featuring a TRILUMIC® thread from Hueck Folien and the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) commemorative $50 featuring a hologram.

This month, our attention turns to the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), which has begun issuing the new FRW 2,000 and FRW 5,000 banknotes. Both denominations – the first of the 2024 Series to be released – entered circulation on 3 September 2024.

Both notes have had their security features upgraded. They now include the dynamic and colour shifting IGNITE® thread and the level 2 security feature GEMINI™ that depicts vivid and detailed pattern work under ultra- violet light, along with SICPA’s SPARK® Live optically variable feature.
