Tech Talk Bridging Academia and Anti-Counterfeiting Innovation

In response to the alarming rise in counterfeiting incidents in India and the pressing need to bridge the gap between academic research and the anticounterfeiting industry, the International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA) joined hands with Reinforce Intellectual Property Association (RIPA) for an awareness program.

RIPA (a not-for-profit organisation) organised the program ‘Handling the Counterfeit Economy’ on 30 September 2024 at the National Productivity Council in New Delhi, India.

A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion titled ‘Bridging Knowledge: Collaborative Dialogue for Handling the Counterfeit Economy’. The panel focused on promoting R&D, identifying industry-specific challenges, and fostering industry-academia partnerships to develop innovative anti-counterfeit tools.

Discussions covered trends in counterfeiting, the need for technological advancement, and how solutions like Optical Variable Devices (OVDs), NFC, RFID, Blockchain, IoT, and AI can be further adapted for the Indian market.
