Holograms in Healthcare
In this most recent roundup of the use of holography in various healthcare settings (see also HN April 2021, July 2022, and September 2022), we report on two current innovations in the field of patient care.
Patient Communications
In a bid to enhance communication and streamline services, a UK health service trust is exploring the integration of holographic technology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary’s reception desk. While hailed as a potential breakthrough in facilitating multilingual assistance and providing directions, concerns have been raised regarding its accessibility for certain demographics.
The proposed deployment would introduce lifelike and interactive 3D holograms to greet and assist visitors, offering guidance on navigating the hospital’s facilities and addressing inquiries ranging from parking information to visiting hours. This innovative approach aims to cater to diverse linguistic needs and improve communication efficiency within the healthcare setting.
