IOTA: A New Chapter in Optical Security Technologies

The International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA) has begun a new chapter in optical security technologies with a new name – the International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA).

The IHMA was founded in 1993 and has played an essential role in shaping the holographic industry, representing members from across the globe. As the association stands at the cusp of a transformative era, the transition reflects the association’s commitment to ongoing evolving markets and new technology frontiers, particularly in optical security.

Why the change?

In the last few years, the security features world has changed, said IOTA Chair Dr Mark Deakes.

Holography, once the cornerstone of anti-counterfeiting solutions, now exists within a broader ecosystem of optical security technologies.

Technologies have advanced beyond holography; market applications are expanding, mergers and acquisitions in the security industry are consolidating themselves as solutions providers, increasing demand for phygital solutions, the industry is demanding sustainable solutions, and challenges have grown more intricate.
