A Glimpse from High Security Printing Asia in Thailand

The 20th Reconnaissance High Security Printing™ Asia (HSP-Asia) conference marked two decades of excellence in security printing. Held from 2–4 December 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, the event underscored its role as a premier platform for innovation and collaboration in currency, identity, and anticounterfeiting.

Thailand hosted HSP Asia for the fourth time since its inaugural conference in 2002, then in 2008 and 2013. The article reviews the conference from the perspective of optical security technologies innovations and developments.

Engaging programme

The event began with a tour of the Bank of Thailand’s printworks, complemented by seminars on emerging fraud behaviours and the future of cash.

The formal programme launched on 3 December, with the Bank of Thailand setting the stage with insights on currency and identity documents. The conference then split into two tracks, focusing on currency and travel/identity documents, and featured 37 presentations over two days. Sessions explored regional trends and cutting-edge innovations in the AsiaPacific.
