IHMA Members Hear About It First!

The International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA) is made up of the world’s leading hologram suppliers and manufacturers and as a benefit of membership they receive a range of services. Two examples are the Patent Newsletter and the Tender Alert Service.

Patent Newsletter

The IHMA Patent Newsletter is a monthly review of patents issued in the fields of security, decorative and data storage holography, along with holographic techniques, processes and displays.

In the ‘Security & Optical Effects’ category of April’s edition of the newsletter, Wavefront Technology discloses a method for fabricating masters and optical products.

The patent claims protection for an optical product comprising: an array of lenses; a first plurality of portions disposed under the array of lenses, individual ones of the first plurality of portions corresponding to a point on a surface of a first 3D object, and comprising first non-holographic features configured to produce at least part of a first 3D image of the first 3D object; a second plurality of portions disposed under the array of lenses, individual ones of the second plurality of portions corresponding to a point on a surface of a second 3D object, and comprising second non-holographic features configured to produce at least part of a second 3D image of the second 3D object; and an interference optical structure disposed with respect to said first and/or second non- holographic features.

Tender Alert Service

The tender alert service sends eMail notifications directly to the inbox of members, giving a description of the goods or services to be supplied, the deadline for submission and the outline details of the buyer – enough information to make a quick value judgement as to whether this opportunity is worth chasing. A link on the notification takes you to the Member’s Area of the IHMA website where you can learn more about the tender using the unique code that identifies each procurement.

Full details about the Request for Proposal (RFP) are listed in an easy-to-read format, including full contact details, bidding type, project location, tender notice number and, where available, the estimated contract value. The contract notice itself is included in short form in the listing with a link to the original tender document.

Two of the more recent notifications are from (1) the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism (IHMA Ref No 474474714) for supply of 400 million holographic banderoles, with deadline 20 July 2022, and (2) a domestic competitive bid from India (IHMA Ref No 474594323) for printing and supply of PVC personalised cards with security features and hot stamping of hologram along with voter manual kit, with a deadline 6 July 2022.

The Patent Newsletter and Tender Alert Service are made available exclusively to IHMA members. To become a member visit https://ihma.org/about-us/#join-us.
