THCO – Call for Papers and Nominations for the Excellence in Holography Awards

With the face-to-face conference season slowing down over the (northern hemisphere’s) summer holiday period, Reconnaissance International is already preparing for The Holography Conference™ which, after the success of the 2020 and 2021 events, will continue to be held online, taking place this year from 5-6 December.

The Call for Papers is now open and delegates are invited to submit a proposal by 31 October (https:// holographyconference.com/call-for-papers/).

THCO will comprise of four sessions, with up to four papers in each, spread over two days, along with a panel discussion, debate, and presentation of the IHMA (International Hologram Manufacturers Association) Excellence in Holography 2022 Awards.

The conference focuses on the exchange of information and experience between hologram suppliers, producers and users, and the sharing and showcasing of the latest technologies, production techniques, new applications and markets, as well as industry-wide issues such as sustainability and reducing environmental impact.

Reconnaissance is inviting papers that align with the conference themes of:

  • Resilience and Sustainability. What steps are the holography industry taking to respond to the dual threats posed by living with COVID-19 and the environmental crisis?

  • Physical, Digital, Virtual. The world is dematerialising and, along with it, the security and non-security applications for holography. In an ideal world, however, physical, digital and even virtual can combine to provide optimal solutions for identification, security and traceability.

  • Cooperation, Collaboration, Competition. One day you’re a competitor, next day you’re a collaborator. Now more than ever, the holography industry relies on partnerships to deliver successful projects and on the integration of complementary technologies to create world-beating products.

  • Innovation and the Next Frontier. Smaller (or larger), brighter, faster, more robust, less cost, greater durability – the sector is pushing the boundaries of what is possible – and affordable.

Excellence in Holography Awards

Each year since its inception, the IHMA has given Excellence in Holography awards to outstanding holographic projects for the year. These awards and commendations are presented during THCO for holographic products or techniques introduced over the previous year which represent the best in the industry for innovation and commercial potential. As such, they recognise outstanding achievement and mark out those who are at the forefront of the sector.

Any company or individual is eligible to enter – not only IHMA members.

There is a cap of two nominations per organisation per category, of which there are five. The same nomination can be submitted for more than one category:

  • Best Innovation in Holographic Technology

  • Best Origination

  • Best Display or Emerging Technology Application of Holography

  • Best Applied Security Product

  • Best Applied Decorative/Packaging Product.

In addition to these categories, which are judged by the IHMA Board, there is also the ‘People’s Choice’, with delegates voting for their favourite nomination during the Holography Conference.

This, along with the other winners, is announced and presented during a special virtual awards ceremony at the end of the conference.

IHMA Excellence in Holography

Nominations for the 2022 awards are open and the deadline is 31 October (https://ihma.org/excellence-in- holography-awards/).

Whether you are involved in secure document, brand protection, data storage, optical elements or medical applications of holography, this is the one conference that you really cannot afford to miss.

And, through the support of the IHMA, members of the association can register for free, as can representatives from government organisations (including, for example, central banks, revenue agencies, passport issuing authorities or law enforcement).
