Central Asia Gains Voice in Global Optical Security with Kyrgyzstan’s IOTA Entry

Uchkun OJSC (Open Joint Stock Company), Kyrgyzstan’s state-owned security printing house, has joined the International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA), becoming the association’s first member from the country. The move gives Central Asia a stronger presence in the international optical security community, as well as cementing IOTA’s position as a truly global body, spanning all continents and major regions.

Based in Bishkek, Uchkun is a designated strategic facility for the Kyrgyz Republic. The company has undergone an extensive modernisation programme in recent years, transforming itself from a conventional printing operation into the country’s central hub for high security production. This shift has allowed Kyrgyzstan to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers and bring key sovereign documents back under national control.

Today, Uchkun manages a broad portfolio of secure, government-critical products.
