BRBNMPL Seeks Partners for In-House Colour Shift Pigment Manufacturing

The Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Pvt Ltd (BRBNMPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India, has issued an amended global Expression of Interest (EOI/010 (A)/CO/2025-26) to establish a manufacturing facility for colour shift pigments (CSP) suitable for printing banknotes/other security products at its Mysure site. The previous bid was for colour shift pigment/films and thread.

Approach and bidding process

The proposed facility will manufacture CSP used in banknotes and other high-security documents. At present, BRBNMPL procures CSP to prepare colour shift intaglio inks (CSII) for intaglio printing of Indian banknotes.

BRBNMPL now intends to acquire the technology and establish the necessary in-house infrastructure to manufacture these colour shift products (in different colour combinations) at its Mysuru production facility. The Mysuru site already hosts VARNIKA, the BRBNMPL dedicated ink manufacturing unit, making it the logical hub for this new technological expansion.
