Are Micro and Nano-Optics Taking Centre Stage in Brand Protection?

At the recent LUXEPACK Monaco (29 September-1 October), Rolling Optics, a subsidiary of Oberthur, unveiled Fidaro™ – a micro-optic-based brand protection solution for packaging, labels, and product integration.

Fidaro™ combines precision optics with customisable visual effects that elevate brand storytelling while helping consumers instantly verify authenticity. Oberthur’s other innovation, Capto™, also developed by Rolling Optics, reinforces its growing investment in micro-optic security for brand protection.

They are not alone. Crane Authentication, a business unit of Crane NXT, recently launched PROFOUND® TruSpectrum™ – an extension of its micro-optic label platform enabling seamless colour integration with brand identities. In just two years, Crane Authentication has introduced six new overt features within the PROFOUND® family, each tailored to evolving brand owner needs.

Lumenco has partnered with UK-based XRD Nano to co-develop next-generation solutions using advanced microlens arrays and high-performance UV chemistry. Their collaboration aims to make decentralised, high-performance optical security both technically effective and economically scalable for global brands.
